Waxes are organic compounds. Synthetic waxes are long-chain hydrocarbons lacking functional groups. Paraffin waxes are hydrocarbons, mixtures of alkanes usually in a homologous series of chain lengths. These materials represent a significant fraction of petroleum. They are refined by vacuum distillation. The waxes L & Y supplies include paraffin wax and microcrystalline wax. Paraffin wax finds a wide applications in candle, lubricant, casting, rubber and fertilizers, while microcrystalline wax is often used in industries such as candles, adhesives, corrugated board, cosmetics, castings, and a host of others. Ion exchange resins are insoluble matrix normally in the form of small (0.5- 1 mm diameter) beads, usually white or yellowish, fabricated from an organic polymer substrate. The material has a highly developed structure of pores on the surface of which are sites with easily trapped and released ions. There are multiple different types of ionexchange resin which are fabricated to selectively prefer one or several different types of ions.
